The Master’s program “Security and Diplomacy”, conducted in English, is one of the educational proposals of the Department of International Relations and European Integration that attempts to combine both a good conceptual and theoretical preparation and a significant practical dimension, bringing together not only many of the most relevant names in the field in Romania, but also actors directly involved in diplomatic practice or security studies. The Master’s program practically continues the university’s tradition of training specialists for diplomacy and security analysis, managing to attract Master’s students both from Romania and abroad, thanks to its modern and interactive format.
The “Security and Diplomacy” master’s program is designed and constantly updated to provide an advanced understanding of current international dynamics for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and prepare for a career in the field of diplomacy and security studies.
This program allows students to analyze the complexity and processes involved in international politics and the international system. The courses of this master’s degree provide exposure to subdomains and central issues of diplomacy and security, such as globalization, human rights, humanitarian action, economic development, regional security complexes, regional studies, theories of international relations, foreign policy strategies, intelligence studies, security studies, energy and cyber security, hybrid and asymmetric conflicts, public diplomacy, preventive diplomacy, diplomatic practice and protocol, etc.
The courses are complemented by a wide range of activities and practical exercises. In parallel with the study program itself, there are several conferences and workshops with specialists from Romania and abroad, designed to complement the didactic dimension. Thus, the graduates of the program acquire a truly extensive interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of international relations, both from a practical and theoretical point of view.
The program is aimed at graduates of Bologna-based university studies (3 years) or graduates of long-term university studies (4 years or more).
Upon completion of their studies, graduates will have certificates of basic skills related to the occupation of political scientist, as well as complementary skills of international relations officer and intelligence officer according to the ESCO classification (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations).
Full-time education, 2 years, 120 ECTS.
In the case of places not subsidized by the state budget, the tuition fee is 600 euros/semester, respectively 1200 EUR/year.
